Kerry Logistics Network Limited (‘Kerry Logistics’; Stock Code 636.HK), a leading logistics service provider in Asia, has been honoured with the Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards 2015, jointly presented by The Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies and the Centre for Corporate Governance and Financial Policy, Hong Kong Baptist University.
The Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards (the “Awards”), inaugurated in 2007, are designed to promote and highlight excellence in corporate governance practices of Hong Kong listed companies. Winners went through rigorous selection to demonstrate their outstanding commitments to nine key aspects, namely shareholder rights, compliance, integrity, fairness, responsibility, accountability, transparency, board independence & leadership, and corporate social responsibility. Special attention was given to companies that showcased innovation and significant improvements in corporate governance and/or sustainability made over the last three years.
This year’s judging panel of leading experts from the fields of regulation, financial, investment, accounting, legal and academic praised Kerry Logistics for its “world-class aspiration of achieving good corporate governance”. They also highlighted how Kerry Logistics’ diligent and disciplined board “reflected the company’s determination to have top calibre people with the right professional background leading its business”.
William Ma, Group Managing Director of Kerry Logistics, said, “This is the first corporate governance related award Kerry Logistics has received since our listing on the HKEx two years ago, and we are honoured to be amongst such a high pedigree of peer participants. We would like to thank the esteemed panel of distinguished judges for bestowing us this recognition. We share this accomplishment with everyone at Kerry Logistics who has contributed to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance.”
As the Hong Kong market embarks on increased connectivity, investors look to solid corporate governance as an indication of quality and investment worthiness. The Awards aim to instil investor confidence as they seek for higher assurances.
