Kerry Logistics Re-aligns Supply Chain in Flood Ravaged Thailand

2011-11-07 Thailand

Following the severe flooding affecting Bangkok and surrounding areas, Kerry Logistics has responded by relocating its Express command centre from the capital city to the east of Thailand, within 20km of Laem Cha Bang deep sea port. This command centre is also connected to Suvarnabhumi airport and is within one hour travel time away, over elevated highways.

The company has also established distribution centres in Siracha, Chonburi, Chacheongsao and Rayong on the eastern seaboard and in Korat Province in the north east of Thailand, which are all unaffected by widespread flooding, in order to assist in the speedy distribution of cargo.

“We have acted promptly to maintain supply chain integrity and maintain distribution flow for our customers and their suppliers. We are focused on prioritising food & beverages, pharmaceuticals & medical, and life-saving equipment,” said Alex Ng, General Manager, Kerry Logistics (Thailand).

“However because of the flooding it is inevitable that delivery lead times will be longer than usual but we are fully operational for the duration of the flooding crisis,” he added.

Other business units including freight forwarding, Kerry Siam Seaport, and the Kerry Asia Road Transport are providing support in managing the flow of urgent shipments into and out of the affected areas of Thailand.
