Kerry Logistics Regional Logistics Hub in Singapore Starts Operations

2013-04-24 Singapore

Kerry Logistics, a leading logistics service provider in Asia, has started operations at its Asia regional logistics hub in Singapore. The centre will also be regional headquarters for Kerry Logistics’ South East Asian operations.

The four-storey facility has a total area of 34,500 sq.m. and will support regional clients with a full range of integrated logistics services. Initially there will be 60 staff at the hub, but this will increase by up to 20 more in the second half of the year.

“The hub will facilitate the needs of our high-end customers in the fashion & lifestyle and electronics industries. We have special areas designated for the handling of these time sensitive and valuable products and there is a high level of security,” said Robert Tan, Managing Director, South Asia.

Kerry Logistics will also focus its Asian supply chain management activities at the hub to meet growing demand from clients in South East Asia and Australia.

Special features include ramp up facilities accommodating a 40 foot container with direct access to warehouse floors, minimizing the turnaround time for inbound and outbound goods.

Consistent with Kerry Logistics focus on building environmentally friendly logistics facilities in Asia, the Singapore hub incorporates green features including an estimated 30-35% energy savings through design that maximizes natural light and reduces the need for artificial light.

The facility will also have a rainwater harvesting system for irrigating the surrounding landscape and plants, and an air-conditioning system that improves chiller efficiency and utilises refrigerants with low ozone depletion properties.

The building is targeting compliance with LEED (Gold) requirements during the second quarter of 2013 and Kerry Logistics has achieved Green Mark Gold certification in Singapore, pending final approval by Building and Construction Authority (BCA).
